Year 4 has recently enjoyed some very successful trips to the Tate Britain and Tate Modern. They had a chance to see some of the modern art that they had learnt about in class; seeing the original artwork is always more exciting than looking at a copied image. The children worked with artists from the Tate and took part in workshops in the galleries. Members of the public looked on in awe as the children responded creatively to works of art by drawing a Picasso on acetate, modelling a Giacometti in tin foil, building a Caro sculpture with card and making a Moore out of plasticine.
