At Newton Prep our PSHE and RSE curriculum intends to promote pupils’ personal and social development, helping them to live safe, healthy and economically sustainable lives.
All children study topics such as: relationships, being responsible and keeping/staying healthy, as well as fire safety and hazard watch. In Year 7 and 8, a bespoke section of the curriculum, based on living in the wider world, has been designed to ensure pupils are prepared for active life in British society, learning about different careers and opportunities.
The curriculum has been designed to develop pupils’ knowledge, understanding and appreciation of their own responsibilities, welfare and that of others in the School community and beyond. Underpinning everything the pupils learn in this subject, is the recognition and promotion of the British values of: democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty and mutual respect to those of different faiths and beliefs.
