We take pride in the quality of the guidance we offer parents when it comes to choosing a senior school. Our Deputy Head Pastoral Years 6, 7 and 8, Sarah Hales, whose main focus is to support and navigate children and parents through the transfer processes, ensures that we find the right senior school for every child.
There is no doubt that the pressure on places at independent senior schools has increased in recent years. Therefore, the advice to parents begins formally in the Spring Term of Year 5 with a general meeting, followed by the opportunity for a one-to-one meeting to discuss your child and make a plan for their next steps. This meeting is the start of continued communication between parents and the school until they begin their senior school journey.
2025 results so far
- 43 scholarship and awards and counting!
- 38% of our Year 6 and 8 leavers have received academic, art, drama, music or sport awards so far.
- Pupils have received offers of scholarships or awards from over 20 different schools, including Dulwich College, Alleyn’s, Brighton College, King’s College Wimbledon, Whitgift and City of London School.
With so many options available at 11+ and 13+, navigating the transfer to senior school can feel almost impossibly daunting. We pride ourselves on working closely with parents to make sure we send our children to a day or boarding school that is exactly right for them. This year, we will send children to 43 different senior schools, from boarding schools such as Harrow, Eton, Wellington, Brighton and Winchester to local day schools such as KCS Wimbledon, Alleyn’s, JAGS, Dulwich, St Paul’s Girl’s and Boys’ Schools and Godolphin & Latymer. We are thrilled that a third of our Year 6 children have chosen to stay on at Newton for two more years.
Whilst our full 2025 results are not quite ready for publication, we are incredibly proud of all our pupils’ achievements thus far particularly as we are celebrating our highest ever number of scholarships and awards!
