Computing

Computing

Our pupils learn to use technology effectively, safely and independently, learning skills that they can apply across other subjects.

Our Computing lessons take part place in our three modern ICT rooms: the Makerspace, Media Room and Computer Lab. These well-equipped rooms give pupils the chance to develop skills across the three strands of Computing: computer science, information technology and digital literacy. Pupils develop a love of using technology, learning to express themselves through robotics, engineering, filming, photography, graphic design, 3D design and programming.

At the heart of all lessons is the concept of 'computational thinking', which teaches pupils how to approach problems in a logical systematic manner. Starting in Early Years, pupils use programmable toys to solve real-life problems. They learn to create and organise digital work and make decisions about using technology safely. In Upper School, pupils learn to use technology to create solutions for the
ever-changing world around them. They aspire to ambitions goals. This includes programming robots to explore Mars and creating mobile apps to address social issues that are important to them.
