New Head of Newton Prep Announced for September 2025 

The School Board is delighted to announce the appointment of Graeme McCafferty as the new Head of Newton Prep from September 2025. 

He will be joining us from Rosemead Preparatory School, Dulwich, where he was formally promoted to Head in January 2023, having been the Deputy Head Academic since 2019 and playing a pivotal leadership role since late 2021.  

Mr McCafferty began his teaching career with a Bachelor of Education from the University of  West of Scotland. He completed his teacher training and initial NQT year in Glasgow. He then spent five years abroad teaching in Dubai as ICT Coordinator, Head of Years 4 and 5, and a member of the Senior Management Team. In 2013, he moved to the British International School of Shanghai as the Lead Practitioner for Teaching and Learning. He then returned to London to join Dulwich Prep as Director of Studies and Assistant Head of Lower School until 2019. 

A forward-thinking educator and leader, with a focus on values-driven education, community building and technology enhanced learning, he shares Newton Prep's deep commitment to pupil and staff development, and pastoral care. He brings with him a track record of creating adaptive, future-ready learning environments that are both engaging and academically successful. He is an ISI inspector, a Fellow at the Chartered College of Teaching and a governor at another independent school. 

Mr McCafferty is keen to continue and develop Mrs Fleming’s hard work nurturing each child’s unique strengths and talents. As the father of eight-year-old twins, and an educator, he is excited to join a school that values a well-rounded approach to education. Throughout his career in state, international and independent schools in the UK and abroad, he has gained a deep appreciation for balanced and inclusive learning.
