Love in a Box - making Christmas happen for Balkan orphans!

Love in a Box - making Christmas happen for Balkan orphans!
Charity Parents

Every year the Newton Prep school community donates hundreds of boxes of Christmas gifts to children living in orphanages and children’s homes in Moldova and Ukraine. It has already been great to see some of the wonderful gifts generously donated at a difficult time for everyone, keeping in mind that these are children who have very few material possessions and who will not receive any other gifts this Christmas.

If you don't have the time or opportunity to bring in a box, you can always just make a bank transfer donation online: please quote ref 'NEWTON [your name]' on your donation to Mustard Seed Relief Missions, sort code 52-41-00 account 40106802

  • Please follow the guidance on the charity’s leaflet (or their website) about what to put in the boxes and remember that everything must be new, not secondhand. Please also note that this year, we ask that the money donated with every box - to cover the charity’s transportation costs - should be either in the form of a cheque or banknotes (£5 per box), no coins.
  • This year, children should take their boxes to their classrooms at the start of the day and these will be collected in pods and brought to the central collection point.
  • We would love to have more boxes donated for boys and girls in the 12-15 age group so older pupils might wish to donate boxes for these children.

The final deadline for bringing in boxes:

Thursday 19th November.

  • Remember that your box must have a label attached to the outside showing who it is for (Boy/Girl and the age bracket 3-5, 6-11, 12-15).
  • Inside, please put the donation (minimum £4 per box but please give cheques or banknotes only, NO COINS THIS YEAR)
  • If your family is donating more than one box, you only need to fill out one Gift Aid envelope and you can combine the donation in that envelope for all your boxes

Thanks so much to all the parents who have signed up to help check the boxes. We have enough people to cover the scheduled checking dates, however if we need to add more dates nearer the end of the collection, we will be in touch and would welcome more volunteers then.

Please send any questions to Naomi McAllister either via classlist or email, [email protected]

THANK YOU!
