Senior School Forum – Talking Heads

Wednesday 13th February, 7:00-8:30pm

Parents from throughout the school are warmly welcomed to the next of our Talking Heads Forums, this time featuring boarding schools close to school. The Heads of three very popular boarding schools close to London have kindly agreed to be our panel for the evening:

  • Mr Jay Piggot - Epsom College
  • Mr Ceri Jones - Caterham School
  • Mr Alasdair Kennedy - Trinity School

This evening event will run from 7:00pm until somewhere between 8:00-8:30pm and provides an opportunity for the Heads to offer some insights into the world of the modern boarding school and more generally about what these senior schools are looking for, and what to expect from the time you apply through to when the children start at their senior school. A short Q&A session will be included.

Parents of children in all Year Groups are welcome to attend this event - please sign up via the online form below.

I hope many of you will be able to join us for this event and look forward to seeing you there. Please do remember to submit one question in the form below that you would like our visiting Heads to consider ahead of their visit.

Deputy Head – Senior School Transfer

Background to the Talking Heads concept:

As parents will know, we always aim to offer support and guidance to Newton families as they negotiate the transfer of children to senior schools at the end of Year 6 and 8. To that end we hold the biennial Senior Schools Fair (the next Fair will be this October) alongside various transfer evenings for children from Year 1 upwards.

At our inaugural Talking Heads Forum, we were delighted to have an impressive panel of London Day School heads: Dr Gary Savage from Alleyn’s School, Mrs Jane Lunnon from Wimbledon High School and Mr Chris Ramsey from Whitgift School. Before that, we have previously invited Mr Richard Cairns (Brighton College), Dr Joseph Spence (Dulwich College) and Mrs Lucy Elphinstone (Francis Holland School) to talk to parents. It was after the success of these talks, that we decided to formally launch a series of forums featuring Heads and senior members of staff from a variety of Senior Schools.
