Go, Winston! Go, Spartan! Go, Nonsuch! Go, Crispin!

At Newton Prep, our House system ensures that there is a relationship between the smallest Reception child and the tallest Year 8 leaver, with the common cause of wanting their House to win the Newton House Plate at the end of each academic year.

Children from Reception upwards are allocated to a House by the school as soon as they arrive at Newton. All staff, both teaching and admin, are also allocated, leading to great partisanship on sporting days.

The Houses are named after apple varieties, in keeping with the theme of the school:

House points are the basic currency of reward in the Upper School and are used to reinforce expectations of good behaviour or work. They are awarded for achievements in sport, in work or as rewards for spontaneous good behaviour, tidiness and organisation -  or for generally showing the Newton spirit. They are tallied weekly and posted around the school.

House events are many and varied - from charitable cake sales (this year for our four chosen Newton@25 charities) to special House assemblies - and create a sense of belonging amongst pupils and staff. All House achievements contribute towards the awarding of the Newton House Plate at the end of the academic year.
