Admissions

Newton Prep is a co-educational academically selective school. It is a school which suits and meets the needs of bright, enthusiastic and inquisitive children. The School's admissions policy and process is designed to help parents decide if Newton is the right school for their child as well as assisting us to identify those children whom we believe will benefit most from the style of education we offer.

We seek to operate a fair and non-discriminatory approach to admissions.

  • Admission to the Apple Nursery is based on registration.
  • Admission to the Lower School (Reception to Year Two) is based on registration, with a gentle and informal assessment process in the autumn term before entry.
  • Admission to the Upper School (Years Three to Eight) is by registration and competitive testing. The children are invited to attend tests in the January preceding their year of entry (or throughout the year on a strict case-by-case basis) when they will undertake short tests in mathematics, English and other diagnostic, age-appropriate tests.

More details on admissions, assessment and reserve lists can all be seen in our Admissions Policy, below.

Our sibling policy is that siblings will be given priority when applying for places in the Nursery only. For admissions to the Lower and Upper School, sympathetic consideration will be given to brothers and sisters, but the specific needs of the child being tested for admission will still be considered. Siblings will not receive automatic priority over other children applying.

If you have any further questions regarding the admissions process or if you would like to order a prospectus, please contact the Registrar, Susan Symes, on 020 7720 4091 ext 1207 or by email:registrar@newtonprep.co.uk
